A lot of people go on courses but then get overwhelmed by the enormity of having to make the book.
Does anyone have any tips on making the first book, so that it's a bit less overwhelming? I know there are instructions on the CDs, but for parents who haven't got much time it's a lot to read through.
It would be really helpful to hear from parents who have just gotten going on how they created their first books. Did you start with just a few pages and built it up?

I am an SLP and it is just as overwhelming as I do not have assistants either. So- I made sure I did 2 things first: 1. Gathered some customized vocabulary to meet the child's and multiple communication partner needs (I wanted others involved) and 2. Picked the pragmatic starters, categories page, questions ( because my kids are asked so many questions in a day I thought I might be able to get use) and at least a few activities or topics of interest for use by me and 1 other person.
I did not begin with the full book but now have 2 full books done.
Once I reduced my goal to be able to accomplish it in smaller steps it was fine. I checked off going to Office Depot for materials as an accomplishment. I also asked a few people to cut 5 pages when I was just too tired to do more- they all offered to do more! Hope this helps! Beth
